Pasta and Meat Sauce

There’s nothing more comforting to me than a big bowl of pasta after a long day. Lovely served hot with garlic bread or delicious with a simple side salad.

I’m not professing this dish matches how the Italians make it, but it’s great as a quick supper. This is one of my favourite Italian dishes due to its simplicity and comfort factor. There is no comparison but it reminds me of some fabulous pasta and meat sauce I ate whilst I was in Italy last summer, sublime. This is my attempt at recreating that…….trying to anyway!! 😃

Pasta and Meat Sauce

Serves 4

Ingredients

500g Good Quality Beef Mince

1 Onion, peeled and chopped

2 Garlic Cloves, finely chopped

2 Tins Chopped Tomatoes

Handful of Fresh Basil Leaves, chopped

300g Tagliatelle

Method

Heat a large, heavy based frying pan. Add some oil and fry the onion for a few minutes. Add the garlic and meat and cook until the meat is slightly coloured. Add the tomatoes and simmer for 20mins. Season generously with salt and black pepper.

Cook the pasta in boiling, salty water.

When the pasta is cooked add the basil leaves to the meat sauce and stir through. Serve the pasta and meat sauce and top with grated Parmesan. Buon appetito! 😃
